One of the biggest decisions when planning your next long-haul adventure is choosing the right airline to make the start and end of the journey as comfortable as possible! With Turkish Airlines now flying out of Sydney via Kuala Lumpur, I did some investigating to see if Turkish Airlines is worth all the hype it’s been getting lately. I’ve also been getting really curious about what it’s really like to fly with Turkish Airlines. To help myself (and you, of course!) to decide if we’ll be jet-setting with Turkish Airlines soon, I’ve rounded up some thoughts from people who have been lucky (or unlucky) enough to fly with the airline in first, business, and economy class cabins. Here are some authentic and relatable Turkish Airlines Sydney reviews.

As of October 2025, Turkish Airlines utilises its A350-900 to fly to and from Sydney with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur five times per week! Most specifically, flights departing Sydney as of October 2024 are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. The flights all leave Sydney Airport at 21:55 (9:55pm) and arrive in Istanbul at 11:00am with a 1-hour and 45-minute stopover in Kuala Lumpur. I personally find the overnight flights much more relaxing and allow travellers to make the most out of their holiday by arriving during daylight hours. I’ve been comparing different routes with WayAway from Sydney to Europe, and Turkish Airlines seems like a sure catch, with prices considerably lower than other major airlines.
From early 2026, Turkish Airlines will be departing daily from Sydney Airport with an unstoppable 21-hour nonstop flight.
Turkish Airlines Real World Reviews – Sydney
First Class – Tina Tong
Tina shares that first-class passengers flying out of Sydney get access to the Air New Zealand First Class Lounge, which she describes as a calming space with excellent food and drinks before boarding. She also notes that the first class cabin uses a 1-2-1 configuration and has an amazing selection of food and drink onboard. Tina’s experience sets the tone for what most readers look for when flying in their most luxurious cabins.

Business Class – Johnny Clark
Johnny’s experience with Turkish Airlines business class cabin included comfortable lie-flat beds, but it did not include enclosed doors for added privacy. However, it is worth mentioning that Johnny flew this route with the B777 aircraft and not their usual A350. Johnny also shares his delight with the food selection on board, plus the amount of food served during the 20-hour journey. The bonus complimentary Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment were also standout features. Johnny also mentioned that the Turkish Airlines lounge may be busy during peak times. Overall, the 20-hour business class journey on Turkish Airlines was sure to impress!

Economy Class – @anth.inathens on TikTok
Anthi flew from Sydney to Athens with Turkish Airlines in economy class and reviewed most aspects a seasonal traveller will appreciate. Anthi rated amenities a 7/10 and food a 6/10 with a special nod to the carrot cake! She also mentioned that none of the flights were delayed, and she was given a generous amount of baggage. Anthi’s experience with flying economy on Turkish Airlines rivals other competitors such as Emirates and Qatar Airways.

Economy Class – @issacnew on TikTok
Isaac flew from Sydney to Lisbon on Turkish Airlines, and his review speaks volumes about Turkish Airlines attention to detail. This includes premium cutlery for all meals and cabin classes (he does add a special mention on hummus being served onboard- yum!). Isaac also mentions the added bonus of amenities whilst flying long haul. Out of Isaac’s three flights, one of them was delayed whilst the rest were on time. If you’re a foodie, then Turkish Airlines will be sure to impress!
