Dubai is known for its amazing skyscrapers and backdrops, but did you know it’s home to the world’s tallest building? The Burj Khalifa is Dubai’s and the world’s tallest building measuring 828 meters (2717 feet) high. The staggering tower started construction in 2004 and was completed in 2010, making it an architectural marvel. The building features residential, commercial and hotel spaces plus an observation deck and restaurants for visitors to enjoy. Visiting Burj Khalifa has become a tourist hotspot in Dubai with over 10 million visits yearly. Visitors can visit levels 124, 125 and 148 plus restaurants and lounges to enjoy a quick drink or fine dining in the sky. Here are five top tips for making your visit to Burj Khalifa a breeze.
#1 Book In Advance.

Booking in advance is the best way to secure your preferred time slot and date. Peak time slots such as sunset times sell out fast and entire days sell out in peak periods. Many different packages can be booked when visiting Burj Khalifa. The most common and inexpensive option is the ‘At The Top, Burj Khalifa’ experience which showcases levels 124 and 125. Other options include viewing both levels plus level 148, combining Burj Khalifa with the Aquarium located in Dubai Mall or brunch, lunch or dinner at the Burj Khalifa Club. Tickets can be purchased from the official Burj Khalifa website, Get Your Guide, Klook and many more partners.
#2 Book an Early Time Slot or Sunset.
If you have young kids, booking an early timeslot will ensure a smooth journey to the top as the lines can be a little long when booking later on in the day. When we went to Burj Khalifa, we booked a 10 am time slot but ended up getting to the top at around 10:30 am. However, if you want to book a sunset visit, ensure you are there early so you can maximise your sunset views.
#3 Do Not Bring Too Many Items.
Now this may seem hard for tourists exploring the city but large bags will need to be checked in. Personal bags are allowed at the top, however large bags, shopping bags and backpacks need to be checked in at the storage area near the ticketing area. Strollers will also need to be checked in. Food is also not permitted in the observation deck and bags go through a screener before entering the lift, so best to check that in too.
#4 For Best Photography in the Daytime, Go to the Outdoor Deck.

This depends on where the sun is during the day. One side didn’t produce good photos, whilst the other side on the outdoor deck gave some amazing lighting. Also, expect crowds on one side of the observation deck during sunset times.
#5 Plan and Pre-Book lunch or dinner at At.mosphere.
After viewing the amazing sites of Dubai, head on down to level 122 to At.mosphere for a fine dining experience. At.mosphere offers visitors a lounge and restaurant area to enjoy amazing drinks and food. Bookings are essential and can be made up to six months in advance. Sunset is the most popular time to visit as the restaurant offers 360 degree views of Dubai. Dubai Mall offers a great selection of food options if fine dining isn’t on your list of things to do in Dubai.
